
Shrikhand is an Indian sweet dish, originated from ancient Indian state of Maharashtra ( and yes credit goes equally to beloved Gujarati people as well). How to make hung curd – Take 1 cup of thick curd and tie it in a muslin cloth properly. Hang it overnight to drain all excessive water out of it. And your hung curd is ready, isn’t it easy?
Ingredients
- Plain Curd – 1 cup
- Alphanso Mango – 3 large size
- Sugar – 3 tbsp
- Cardamom Powder – 1/2 tsp
- Pista – 1 tbsp (optional)
- Cashew – crushed, 1 tbsp (optional)
Method
- Add hung curd, mango cubes, sugar and cardamom powder in mixture vessel
- Grind it till it becomes homogeneous
- Refrigerate it for around 30 mins to maximize taste
- Garnish it with your choice of dry fruits or you can have it plain as well
Tips
- Hung curd is main ingredient in making Shrikand and quality of hung curd depends on quality of curd we use. Generally, one should use home made curd made up of full fat milk
- If home made curd is not available, use thick Greek yogurt from nearby shops

- 1 tbsp Sugar
- 1/2 tsp Cardamom Powder
- 1 tbsp Pista optional
- 1 tbsp Cashew
